An Essay writing

“Just write”. This may be a difficult creed to live by, especially if you are not a natural born writer who possesses a gift with the written word. However, from the time that you go to school up to the time that you start making your own mark in the workplace, having the skills in writing an essay is a definite plus for you. So, it is a good thing to have an early start in honing your essay writing skills. If you have absolutely no idea about how to write an essay yet you are faced with the task of writing one and you just end up staring at a blank piece of paper for hours – then you should have a guide and follow some tips so that you can start composing that all-important essay.

An Essay writing

If you were assigned a particular topic, then you need to gather as much material as you can in order to come up with a decent, readable and interesting essay. If the topic can be picked in random, choose a subject that you are most interested in to lessen the difficulty of the task of writing an essay. If you find it difficult to come up with an introduction or opening statement when writing an essay, you can either choose a famous quote about the topic and work your way from there. Or, you can use a question as an opening which should be answered at the conclusion of the essay.

Next, you can construct an outline out of the material that you have gathered. You do not need to put in all the facts that you have gathered and include it in the essay. You just need to pick out all the important points. Better yet, prepare an outline that you can follow in the course of your essay writing to give it a smoother flow and to make sure that all areas are covered.

After constructing a good introduction, you can move on to the body of the essay. In writing the body of the essay, you need to remember that the writing should focus on the main idea or there, but still reflect your own viewpoints about the subject. Next, discuss the sub-topics and build up on the strong points of your narrative, argument or persuasive statements. Remember that the body of the essay should serve as the highlight of the essay, where you can elaborate and stress out the important points.

Lastly, you need to create an all-encompassing question. If you started out your essay writing with a question as the introduction, then you can summarize the topic and answer the question at the ending paragraph as a conclusion. Basically, the ending statement or paragraph should tie up loose ends, state a clear and precise conclusion and leave the readers feeling satisfied that your essay is complete and that all the points that you brought up on the body of the essay has been addressed. By using these steps as a guide, you can quit staring at a blank sheet of paper or an empty document on your computer screen – and start heating things up by finally composing – and finishing – a good essay.
