Technical Education And Globalization

Globalization means the ability to carry the business or trade beyond national boundaries and market, in other countries on the globe. Technical education and globalization have a close link. Technical education has made an effort to train and develop people towards various technologies which are increasingly in demand across the globe with technology reaching these places at a rapid pace.

Technical Education And Globalization

The craziest thing happening in the world is the invention of technologies every single day in some field or the other. You can never know whether the technology in use today will become obsolete the other day. Though these technologies are invented to make our life easier and comfortable, their never ending demand has highlighted our increasing dependency on them.

Globalization demands increasing number of skilled technical workers who can cater to the both existing as well as new emerging markets. The workplace in a globalized economy is now dynamic in nature and requires a dynamic workforce to carry out the global operations.

Globalization has been built upon the developments in technologies, especially telecommunication technology. Use of communication technologies like computer networks running on high speed intercontinental data link cables have reduced the time which information took to travel between international markets.

International markets in a globalized world are not just filled with technologies of different types but also with those who are capable of developing and implementing these technologies. What we mean is that it is no longer technology which is exported to international markets in the 21st century. Now, even technically skilled manpower is exported to international markets (some people call it brain drain.)

Technical education has opened the doors of international markets for those who are educated in technical disciplines. Individuals armed with technical qualification can now look for opportunities in global markets abroad and be a part of globalized economy. And because technology is here to stay, in one form or the other, skilled technicians will always be in demand.

It is not that skilled individuals have to go out and search for technical jobs in a globalized market. In fact, jobs can come to them as well. If the cost of their labor is cheaper than others, then many jobs can come their way. And if they provide excellent standards of services at reasonable prices, then these individuals can see their demands rising.

Technical education and globalization, hence, have fuelled each others growth. While technical education has created man-power to fuel the needs of globalization, globalization has fuelled the number of those institutes that are striving to take technical education to the masses.
